We are currently recruiting for a Rolling Stock Overhaul Technician to support our team at Eastleigh depot, where we're conducting a major overhaul project on the Class 450 trains. This heavy overhaul is part of Siemens' commitment to enhancing the performance, safety, and sustainability of the Desiro fleet running on the South Western Railway (SWR) network. You'll play a key role in this project by working on a fleet that is undergoing extensive mechanical, electrical, and interior upgrades, ensuring these trains meet modern standards for comfort and efficiency.

We are looking for someone with strong electrical, mechanical, and fault diagnosis experience. Rail experience is preferred but not essential, as full training will be given.

You'll make an impact by;
  • Undertake routine maintenance/overhaul and repair of the allocated rolling stock to meet the requirements of the production plan
  • Carry out download diagnosis and fault-finding to an advanced level and conduct functional system tests
  • Produce complex, analytical technical reports on fault investigation
  • Assist other team members with the development of technical skills
  • Specialise in areas of technical expertise
Your success will be grounded by ...
  • Relevant experience within a predominately mechanical environment with some electrical working knowledge
  • Experience in documenting actions and operations accurately and to procedures
  • Good knowledge and understanding for cares of tools, equipment and PPE as appropriate
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety including bio-hazards, manual handling and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
  • Ability to use a laptop for diagnostic, fault-finding and rectification purposes
  • Ability to understand and interpret relevant technical publications
  • Fault-finding experience is highly desired for this role
  • Ability to produce detailed complex, analytical technical reports
  • Flexibility to accommodate shifts patterns is required
