Job Title: Assistant SEND Allocations Officer
Location: Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP) Council
Pay: £18 - £21 per hour
Contract Type: Full-Time/ Agency

About the Role:

Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP) Council is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant SEND Allocations Officer to join our team. In this key role, you will support the allocation of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) resources and placements across the region, ensuring that children and young people with SEND receive the support they need to thrive. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organizational skills, a passion for supporting young people, and a desire to work in a rewarding and challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist in managing and processing SEND placement and resource allocations for children and young people with special educational needs across Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole.

* Collaborate with schools, parents, and multi-agency teams to ensure suitable placements that meet each child’s individual needs.

* Support the coordination of the Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan assessments and reviews.

* Maintain accurate records and data related to SEND allocations, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.

* Respond to inquiries from parents, carers, and professionals regarding placement and allocation processes.

* Assist in monitoring the demand for SEND places and resources to support forward planning and service delivery.

* Liaise with the SEND team and external agencies to ensure that funding and specialist placements are allocated efficiently and in line with the council’s policies.

Qualifications and Skills:

* Experience in an administrative or support role, preferably within an education or local government setting.

* Knowledge of SEND legislation and processes is desirable but not essential.

* Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with a variety of stakeholders.

* Good IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience managing databases.

* Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive records.

* A commitment to supporting children and young people with special educational needs
