The Role

We are looking for a Central Distribution Manager to join our Central Logistics Team working on a hybrid basis, ideally living within a commutable distance of Swindon, Wiltshire. The Central Distribution Manager will be responsible for the management of all Distribution Centres deployed within the SEWS-E finished goods supply chain.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Distribution strategy – develop, implement, and maintain a distribution warehouse strategy for SEWS-E, ensuring alignment with best industry practices
• Contract management – construct, negotiate, and implement contract agreements with suppliers and the legal department
• Budget oversight – generate, monitor, and report on the budget for distribution centres used by SEWS-E and their subsidiaries
• Performance reporting – design, implement, and report performance metrics for each distribution centre
• Health & safety – conduct health and safety audits, collate monthly H&S performance data and monitor impacts
• Project management – manage new business projects from conception to handover, including all RFQs with suppliers
• Customer communication – serve as the primary contact for customer communication on new projects and serious concerns
• IT strategy – coordinate and implement IT system improvements and best practices for distribution centres
• Employee relations – manage employee relations, including pay negotiations and disciplinary appeals
• Compliance – ensure all distribution centres operate to IATF standards and comply with company security policies, conducting audits as required
• Logistics team leadership – functional oversight of the customer logistic business teams
• Packaging strategy – develop, implement, and maintain SEWS-E packaging strategies, ensuring best industry practices
• Packaging budget – generate, monitor, and report on the company-wide packaging budget, including Capex proposals
• Packaging approval – approve new packaging proposals and design customer required packaging

Skills & Qualifications

• Good analytical and data processing skills
• Strong organisational skills
• Excellent communication / negotiation and problem-solving skills
• Minimum of 'intermediate' level in MS tools such as Excel, Word, Outlook etc
• Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a similar role
• Proven track record of managing a team in a highly pressurised environment
