Mainframe Developer - COBOL/DB2

We are seeking A Mainframe Developer specializing in COBOL, JCL, and DB2 is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting business applications on mainframe platforms. These professionals work with legacy systems, often in industries like banking, insurance, healthcare, and government, where mainframes are critical to handling large-scale transactions and data processing. Job Title : Senior Mainframe Developer. Location : Chennai, Bangalore. Notice Period : Immediate 30 days. Job Type : Contract to Hire. Work Mode : Hybrid. Key Skills : Mainframe, COBOL, JCL, DB2. Key Responsibilities : - Design, develop, test, and implement mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and DB2. - Analyze and understand business requirements to create technical solutions that meet business needs. - Maintain and enhance existing mainframe systems, troubleshooting issues, and performing debugging. - Develop and execute JCL (Job Control Language) scripts to manage and control batch processing. - Write and optimize SQL queries for DB2 databases to retrieve, update, and store data. - Perform unit testing, ensure code quality, and participate in peer code reviews. - Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and other IT teams to ensure the successful delivery of solutions. - Create and maintain technical documentation for system design, code, and configurations. - Monitor application performance, optimize code, and resolve production issues in a timely manner. - Provide support during application deployment, maintenance, and upgrades. - Work closely with QA teams to ensure applications meet quality standards and functional requirements. Requirements : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). - 6 years of experience in mainframe application development. - Proficiency in COBOL programming for developing and maintaining mainframe applications. - Strong experience with JCL for batch job management and execution. - Solid knowledge of DB2 (SQL, database design, and data manipulation). - Experience with CICS (Customer Information Control System) for developing online applications is a plus. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills. - Familiarity with Agile development methodologies is a plus.
