Rail Plant Technical Specialist


6-month contract initially


Stratford – Hybrid – 3 days a week in the office


Occasional trips to Singlewell, Kent when required


Up to £516 per day, Umbrella - DOE



Are you an experienced Plant Technical Specialist with extensive experience in the Rail industry, dealing with Plant and/or Rail Vehicles?



Do you have strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to develop and author technical specifications relating to CP4 and the 40-year renewal programme for the entire High Speed Rail Plant Fleet?



As a Rail Plant Technical Specialist, you will work across multi-disciplinary teams to identify solutions to client requirements and establish robust baseline plans.



The Role as a Rail Plant Technical Specialist



  • Provide detailed input for compilation of the business plan and production of programme / project plans.

  • Manage / work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams including commercial, programme controls, engineering, and others to identify solutions to client requirements and establish a robust baseline plan.

  • Consult and agree programme / plan with HS1 Ltd and key stakeholders.

  • Develop and draft Technical Work scopes for all Rail Plant renewals planned to commence within CP4.

  • Provide technical advice and guidance on Rail Plant and equipment, including liaison with external and internal stakeholders and suppliers.

  • Provide the focus for technical support for all Rail Plant renewals.

  • Liaise with specialist engineers for Rail Plant and equipment technical and compliance requirements.

  • Monitor design and specialist consultants and contractors.

  • Identify and monitor risks (threats and opportunities), plan and implement mitigations to them, and respond to other issues that may affect Rail Plant renewals.

  • Carry out the duties of designated project engineer (DPE) if required.


Essential



  • HND/HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject.

  • Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status (desirable)
