1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant

Position:1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
Contract Type:Full-Time/Part-Time (Contract)

The Role:
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a child with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). The successful candidate will work closely with this child, providing individualized support to help them access the curriculum and fully participate in school life. This role involves working alongside the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to implement and adapt strategies tailored to the child's unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with specific SEND requirements as outlined in their EHCP.
  • Assist in implementing personalized learning plans, behaviour management strategies, and any therapeutic interventions required.
  • Support the child's social, emotional, and academic development, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher to adapt lessons and resources to meet the child's individual learning needs.
  • Monitor and report on the child's progress, maintaining detailed records and contributing to regular review meetings.
  • Liaise effectively with parents/carers, the SENCO, and external professionals to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach to the child's education.
  • Promote the child's independence and self-confidence, encouraging participation in all aspects of school life.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with children with SEND, particularly in a 1:1 setting, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of various SEND conditions, such as autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties, and the strategies to support these.
  • A patient, empathetic, and positive approach, with a genuine commitment to the childs well-being and progress.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • Relevant qualifications in childcare, education, or SEND support are advantageous.
