Location: New Velindre Cancer Centre, Cardiff, Wales


As a Planner, you’ll play a pivotal role in our mission to create a state-of-the-art cancer center. Join our dynamic team and make a difference!

The planner will create detailed plans for completing construction projects, considering the budget, work schedule, and available resources. This involves establishing protocols, best practices, and key steps to ensure the project schedule is maintained.

The role holder will be responsible for ensuring that projects are kept on track by producing reports and using project management tools to keep all other resources involved in the project on track.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Creating, maintaining and reviewing a programme of work using Method Statements and Logistic Plans.
  • Assist with all general planning duties, including the resolution of issues for a department or project.
  • Ensure construction detail is added to the programme as the design packages are issued to identify and coordinate resources, sequence the work activities, communicate access to work areas, and provide coordination between the various entities.
  • Update the current programme on a routine basis throughout the course of the project to capture timely and accurate as-built information.
  • Assist Project Management in formulating the project planning strategy.
  • Assist with developing a project baseline program.
  • Derive Cash flow, Resources, Design, Engineering and Procurement Schedules from the baseline.
  • Planned Cost, labour and level of effort S' Curves to be generated as required.
  • Considering Critical Path Analysis to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget, providing advice on progress and forecasting completions.
  • Identifying and managing any risks that could affect completion and updating the Project Risk and Opportunities Register as necessary.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (Construction/ Engineering) or equivalent
  • 3 years’ of project planning experience in a similar role,
  • Proficient and experienced in using planning software ASTA Powerproject, Primavera P6.
  • Demonstrable experience of the differing and varying planning requirements, policies and rescheduling techniques.
  • Exceptional time and project management skills.
  • Well-developed skills in prioritising and organising.
  • Experience of planning at tender, preconstruction, and delivery stages.
  • Construction planning knowledge.
  • Ability to process the Big-Picture Items.
  • Comfortable interacting with all levels of management in multiple areas.
  • Proficient in graphical presentation of programmes and logistics for proposals and project use.
