Maintenance Technician
Location: Cirencester, GL7 6JS
Salary: £25,138 - £29,605 per annum
Hours: Permanent, Full-time (35 hours per week)

Join the Estates and Facilities team at the University and help ensure the upkeep and safety of their historic campus.
The Role
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repair tasks with a specific focus on the building fabric. Your duties will include handling a wide range of maintenance activities such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, and addressing mechanical services like boiler and air-handling plant repairs. You will also be expected to carry out new installations and conduct routine safety checks on key systems including fire alarms, emergency lights, and CCTV.
The role requires participation in a 3-week rota for 24-hour call-out cover, and there will be occasions where you will work outside regular hours to support large functions and events. In addition, you will monitor heating systems to ensure optimal energy efficiency and compliance with safety regulations, contributing to the University's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Skills and Qualifications
- You must have a GCSE-level education or equivalent and a recognised qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- While not essential, qualifications in painting & decorating, Electrical installation/maintenance, or experience with Point 3 Phase Electrics would be beneficial.
- They also welcome applications from those with qualifications in Building Services Engineering HVAC/Mechanical.
- Previous experience in a maintenance or service environment, or in Electrical/Mechanical installations, is essential.
- Experience with boiler equipment or heating systems is a plus, as is the ability to work at heights.
- You should have basic IT skills, including Windows, Microsoft Office, and Outlook/email, and a valid driving licence.
- The role requires some physical tasks, including lifting up to 25 kg.
- Good communication skills are important, as you’ll be working with staff, students, and contractors.
