Histology Technician

Pride Health is hiring a Histotechnician to support our client’s medical facility based in Pittsburgh PA 15220. This is a 3 months assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!Location: Pittsburgh PA 15220

Schedule: Night 10pm-6am

Pay Range: $40-$55 per hour

*Pay rate is based on years of experience and educational qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

:Position Overview:

Under general supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Histotechnician will perform both routine and specialized tasks essential for the preparation of tissue slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prepare slides for microscopic evaluation, following all laboratory protocols.
2. Process and manage paperwork related to accessioning and reporting.
3. Ensure proper processing of tissue specimens.
4. Conduct embedding and microtomy for designated specimen types as outlined by the Histology Manager/Supervisor.
5. Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining.
6. Perform coverslipping of stained slides using manual or automated methods.
7. Execute special stains as approved by the Histology Manager/Supervisor.
8. Maintain and clean non-complex laboratory equipment.
9. Organize and file finished blocks and slides appropriately.
10. Adhere to quality control policies and document all related activities.
11. Ensure compliance with corporate safety standards, quality control, and quality assurance measures.
12. Follow all local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
13. Maintain a clean and well-organized workspace.
14. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A.A. or A.S. degree with one year of relevant experience within the past 10 years, or a high school diploma/equivalent with five years of acceptable full-time Histotechnician experience within the last 10 years.
• HT (ASCP) certification or eligibility, or five years of full-time relevant experience within the last 10 years.

• Candidates must be punctual, available for scheduled shifts, and capable of staying for the entire shift.
• Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will not be tolerated and may lead to termination.
