BAE Systems do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected on our Graduate programme you will be required to attend your site 3-5 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager.

What you will be doing

Working on one of our projects such as Dreadnought, Astute or the replacement for Astute (known as SSNA), you will gain experience across various stages of the product lifecycle. In combination with a dedicated initial training programme and role based opportunities you will learn to consider important factors such as schedule, cost, training and environmental concerns. Under technical supervision you will provide Systems Engineering services to the project from requirements management to systems architecting and modelling.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Use Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach throughout.

• Listen to the customer needs and build a bespoke system for engineers to translate to the mechanical, hardware, and software teams to use to create the detailed engineering design for the respective areas.

• Support the development of strategies to ensure that systems are designed and integrated to fully satisfy the customer and business needs/requirements.

• Be involved in the design and optimisation of system architectures and solutions using system modelling techniques whilst defining the verification and validation approach in order to achieve certification and acceptance of the system.

• Liaise with MOD establishments, test facilities, sub-contractors, suppliers, Supply Chain, Operations, Test & Commissioning, ILS and other internal functions as required.

• Drafting technical reports or other documents relevant to, or required by, a particular task in order to ensure that information can be successfully communicated with recipients.

Skills

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant STEM subject, including Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive or Structural Engineering.

All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
