Health and Safety Officer
Location: Manchester
Salary: £45,000 per annum
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with UK legislation and industry standards.
* Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
* Provide expert advice and support on health and safety matters to the construction teams and management.
* Monitor and report on health and safety performance, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
* Deliver health and safety training and induction programs for new and existing staff.
* Stay up-to-date with changes in health and safety legislation, making recommendations for improvements where necessary.
* Collaborate with project managers to ensure health and safety considerations are integrated into project planning and execution.
* Investigate incidents and accidents, producing detailed reports and recommendations to prevent recurrence.
Requirements:
* Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or NVQ Level 5 in Health & Safety Management.
* Level 3 Certificate in Environmental Management.
* Proven experience in health and safety management within the construction industry.
* Excellent understanding of UK health and safety law and legislation, particularly in an engineering context.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
* Proficient in conducting risk assessments and safety audits.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
* NEBOSH or equivalent qualification would be an advantage.
