Description of role:

Yourgene Health, part of Novacyt Group are recruiting for a Medical Device Assembly Technician. As a Medical Device Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for the assembly, testing, and optimization of electronic devices that form the foundation of our cutting-edge technology products. Your expertise will be essential in pushing the boundaries of device capabilities, enhancing performance, and contributing to the overall success of our products. . We’re looking for a keen and technically proficient device manufacturer to aid with the assembly of the electronic devices.


Overall responsibility:

To build the assembly of Medical Device electronic devices at Yourgene’s Manchester facility. The role includes assembly, QC and validation responsibilities as well as continuous improvement activities.


Key areas of responsibility:

  • Assemble, and calibrate instrumentation systems including sensors, transmitters, PCB Boards.
  • Perform rigorous testing and verification of assembled instrumentation systems to ensure accurate measurement, proper functioning, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Develop skill and dexterity on the manufacture and QC of the electronic devices
  • Identify and resolve issues that arise during assembly or testing, utilising strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of electrical, electronic, and mechanical components.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols, industry regulations, and quality control standards to ensure the safe and reliable operation of instrumentation systems.
  • Maintain comprehensive and organized documentation of assembly processes, test results, calibration procedures, and any deviations encountered during assembly.


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

  • Educated to HNC level in related field
  • 1-3 years’ experience in assembly and/or testing of electronic devices
  • IEC 61010-1: Safety Requirements for Electrical Equipment for Measurement, Control, and Laboratory Use
  • Experience of working and adhering to ISO13485 Quality Management Systems would be beneficial
  • Electrical capability such that the candidate understands basic electronic fault finding, the use of multi-meters and oscilloscopes and can competently solder
  • Experience working with an ERP system would be beneficial
  • Excellent organizational skills with an attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Enthusiasm, drive, thoroughness, diligence and a willingness to take personal responsibility to ensure projects are successful
  • Able to work under pressure and to consistently meet deadlines
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Experience of working within interdisciplinary teams is desirable
