Role: Shipping Manager


Salary: Circa £70,000 (Possibly some flexibility)


Location: Hampshire, Office based, 9:00-5:30pm (Free Parking on site)


Shipping Manager – Exciting Opportunity in the Commodities Industry

Are you an experienced Shipping Manager ready to take on a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity to lead the shipping function for a dynamic company in the commodities industry. Based in Hampshire, this role will see you overseeing all aspects of the shipping and distribution process, ensuring efficient and timely deliveries. If you’re passionate about streamlining shipping operations and building successful partnerships with suppliers and logistics providers, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!


Key Responsibilities for the position of Shipping Manager -

  • Manage the entire shipping process, overseeing deliveries across various international markets.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and customers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery solutions.
  • Monitor shipping costs, quality, and compliance with local and international shipping regulations, including customs clearance.
  • Oversee European VAT returns and stay updated on relevant trade laws and industry standards.
  • Negotiate contracts and rates with carriers and logistics providers, reducing costs while maintaining high service standards.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans for potential supply chain disruptions, ensuring insurance coverage for goods in transit.
  • Implement and maintain sustainable shipping practices to optimise routes and reduce environmental impact.


Key Experience Required for the position of Shipping Manager -

  • Proven experience in shipping management within the commodities or similar industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of logistics procedures and international shipping regulations.
  • Experience in preparing and managing shipping documentation, including bills of lading and customs declarations.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, capable of managing internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using shipping and logistics software, with a high level of computer literacy.
