Application Performance Monitoring Engineer - AppDynamics

Title : Application Performance Monitoring Engineer (AppDynamics & Open Telemetry) / Monitoring Engineer. Location : Remote. Duration : Contract. Job Overview : We are looking for an experienced Application Performance Monitoring Engineer with expertise in AppDynamics and Open Telemetry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring, diagnosing, and improving the performance of critical applications across the enterprise. This role will involve integrating Open Telemetry with AppDynamics for distributed tracing, setting up observability frameworks, and collaborating with development teams to ensure optimal application performance and visibility. Key Responsibilities : - AppDynamics Setup & Management : Configure, maintain, and optimize the AppDynamics platform for end-to-end application performance monitoring. - Open Telemetry Integration : Implement and manage Open Telemetry for distributed tracing and telemetry data collection, ensuring seamless integration with AppDynamics. - Application Monitoring : Monitor the performance, availability, and reliability of applications, microservices, and APIs using AppDynamics. - Telemetry Data Collection : Collect, analyze, and visualize telemetry data to proactively identify performance issues and bottlenecks across various systems. - Performance Optimization : Collaborate with development, DevOps, and SRE teams to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve performance issues. - Reporting & Dashboards : Create and maintain real-time dashboards and reports for application performance, leveraging both AppDynamics and OpenTelemetry data. - Incident Management : Support incident detection and resolution by providing real-time data on application performance and tracing root causes. - Automation : Develop and automate monitoring configurations, alerting rules, and response actions based on key performance indicators. - Documentation & Best Practices : Maintain documentation for monitoring frameworks, configurations, and troubleshooting steps, and promote best practices for performance monitoring and observability. Required Skills : - AppDynamics : 3 years of experience with AppDynamics setup, management, and optimization in a production environment. - OpenTelemetry : Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, including configuration and integration with various platforms and tools. - Monitoring & Observability : Strong knowledge of application performance monitoring, telemetry, and distributed tracing. - Scripting & Automation : Proficiency in scripting (e., Python, Bash, etc.) for automating monitoring and alerting tasks. - Cloud Platforms : Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and monitoring cloud-native applications. - DevOps Tools : Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), and other DevOps tools. - Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and offer actionable insights for improving application performance. Preferred Skills:. - Familiarity with other APM tools like Dynatrace, New Relic, or Datadog. - Experience in microservices architecture and containerized environments. - Knowledge of logging and metrics platforms (e., ELK, Prometheus, Grafana). - Exposure to automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, or similar. Qualifications : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. - 8 years of experience in application performance monitoring and optimization. - Relevant certifications in AppDynamics, cloud platforms, or OpenTelemetry are a plus.
