From world-famous prehistoric sites to grand medieval castles, Roman forts to a Cold War bunker, we bring the history of England to life.
We are looking for a Volunteer Manager to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis, working 36 hours per week.

As our Volunteer Manager, you will work with key members of the site team and HR & Volunteering team to design and implement new offers in volunteering opportunity, with a view to diversifying the programme and ensuring it accounts for current sector trends, the needs of the local community and the needs of the site. This will include managing and delivering the recruitment, training, support, retention and recognition of volunteers engaged in all areas of English Heritage's work. You will also ensure that all aspects of the volunteer programme are delivered to time, budget and quality.
To be considered as a Volunteer Manager, you will need:
- Relevant experience of successfully managing a diverse volunteering programme.
- Leading a team of volunteers in the delivery of consistent standards.
- Experience of working with the local community.
- Effective communication, able to deal confidently with a diverse range of audiences representing your site and team and cultivate effective internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrable commitment to continuous personal development.
- Knowledge of the principles of volunteer involvement.
