Job Description

Are you experienced working in a Transport function able to take a strategic view of logistics and distribution across a territory to deliver optimal performance and service delivery?

Here at Aggregate Industries we now have an exciting new opportunity for a RMX Transport Manager focused on operating a safe, compliant HGV fleet through a highly engaged team of drivers to deliver improved transport utilization and high levels of customer service within our Ready-mix division in the Scotland & North east England

Reporting to the Area General Manager, the Transport Manager, working alongside key internal and external stakeholders will deliver a leading transport service that meets or exceeds business requirements regarding legal compliance, health and safety, service, cost, quality and reliability of the truck fleet. The main duties for The Transport Manager will be:

Drive a “Safety First” culture into all area transport operations

Accountable for the safe, compliant, legal and cost effective operation of the company fleet.

Responsible for the safe, compliant and cost effective delivery of the owner-driver and franchisee partners.

Proactively manage regional fleet operation - maximising fleet and haulier availability, while increasing vehicle utilisation.

Manage, motivate and engage with a large team across multiple sites covering a large geographical area

Leadership and development of the operational teams to assist them in a safe, legal service delivery.

Effective budget management and forecasting of company fleet

Effective and reliable reporting of utilisation / downtime of all fleet

Working with suppliers both centrally and locally to ensure business continuation of the transport operation.

Ensure full adoption in the use of technology across the fleet and operations to drive the best experience for our customers.

What will you bring?

CPC Qualification for Transport Manager level is Mandatory

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Able to work under pressure, often to meet tight deadlines

Strong data & analytical skills

Experience working in transport, managing multiple site O License operating centres (ideally working with live product)

Experience in delivering a multi facet commercial approach - company / haulier / owner driver models

Business performance focus, used to working against KPI’s

Able to simplify complex situations

Willing to challenge convention

A strong methodical and structured approach.

Preferably from the RMX, perishable goods or FMCG industry.
