This exciting opportunity is with one of Robert Half's clients looking to advance the leadership on the Payroll team and is perfect for someone looking to take the next step in their career as a payroll professional. Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Payroll & Benefits Manager will oversee all aspects of payroll and benefit administration. This role will focus on managing end-to-end payroll operations for union and non-union employees, utilizing ADP Workforce Now in a SOX compliant environment. ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES: · Lead day-to-day payroll operations using ADP Workforce Now for accurate weekly payroll processing. · Conduct audit and quality control checks for payroll transactions. · Oversee regular, month-end and year-end activities, including government remittances, returns, etc. · Serve as the subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders, offering technical expertise and advice on payroll matters. · Maintain and update payroll policies and documentation, address internal and external financial statement audit inquiries · Ensure the preparation of essential payroll remittances, including taxes, RRSPs, union and other third-party remittances. · Lead the accurate and timely annual filings and reporting to government agencies. · Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws and employment legislation ensuring compliance and minimizing risk. · Collaborate with internal stakeholders to collect and verify payroll data including new hires, employee changes, promotions, benefits changes and terminations. · Create an annual calendar of key payroll activities and accountabilities and engage peers to proactively action activities. · Ensure sufficient and current documentation is in place to account for and explain critical payroll tasks, systems and business continuity. · Identify, implement and maintain automated payroll processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. REQUIREMENTS: · Minimum 10 years progressive payroll experience · Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation preferred · Extensive experience managing payroll processes for unionized employees · Strong experience with ADP Workforce Now · Demonstrated success in optimizing payroll processes and commitment to continuous quality improvement · Strong knowledge of CRA rules, regulations and payroll tax laws · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight timelines · Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and ability to manage competing priorities Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
