Prepress Operator

We are seeking a skilled Pre-Press Operator to join our client's team for a 6-month contract, tasked with preparing artwork and designs for our client's printing press. The ideal candidate will have a background in Graphic Communication Management or a related field, with 3-5 years of experience in the packaging industry. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is essential, and the candidate should be comfortable using both Mac and PC platforms. This is an onsite role, requiring the candidate to work at our client’s Guelph location, 5 days a week. Key Responsibilities: Artwork Preparation: Adapt and prepare company-provided artwork for printing on cans, ensuring that all designs meet required specifications. Machine Operation: Assist in operating the new Velox machine, including running first-offs to verify design accuracy and making necessary adjustments. Collaboration: Work closely with a supervisor with over 30 years of industry experience to ensure smooth workflow and project success. Software Expertise: Utilize Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for design modifications and pre-press preparation. Quality Assurance: Inspect printed products to ensure they meet design specifications and quality standards. Flexibility and Adaptability: Stay open to learning new software and processes as required by new machinery and industry changes. Qualifications: Education: Degree or diploma in Graphic Communication Management, Graphic Design, or a related discipline. Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a Pre-Press Operator within the packaging industry. Skills: Expertise in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with strong proficiency in both Mac and PC environments. Knowledge: Familiarity with flexographic printing is an asset. Soft Skills: Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be flexible and eager to learn new tools and processes.
