Intermediate Accountant

We are in search for an Intermediate Accountant to be a part of our team. This role is based in Toronto, Ontario and offers a long-term contract employment opportunity. The role involves managing and overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing strategic financial insights.Responsibilities:- Preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.- Ensuring compliance with GAAP or IFRS, as applicable.- Assisting in the development of annual budgets and forecasts.- Monitoring and analyzing budget variances and providing insights.- Overseeing the maintenance of the general ledger and ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.- Coordinating and supporting internal and external audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.- Performing and reviewing account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.- Conducting financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement and providing recommendations based on financial data analysis.- Mentoring and guiding junior accounting staff and fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.- Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.- Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role- Proficient in Accounting Software Systems- Experience with ADP - Financial Services is preferred- Familiarity with CaseWare, Ceridian, and Concur is beneficial- Strong understanding of Accounting Functions- Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)- Knowledge of Accrual Accounting principles- Previous experience in Auditing is a plus- Excellent communication and organizational skills- Ability to work independently and as part of a team- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is preferred- Certification such as CPA is an advantage- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
