Our client is a leading provider of ground transportation management services. Their company has grown into a major player with offices on three continents, operating in over 3,000 cities and employing over 100 people globally.

With an expected turnover of £50M in 2024, the company has ambitious plans to exceed £100M in revenue over the next five years. To support these growth objectives, the company has created a new role: Head of Projects.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to establish a new team and project management function from the ground up. Once in place, the Head of Projects will oversee the management and execution of all projects across the organisation, including both technology-driven and operational initiatives. This role will ensure the successful delivery of projects by managing teams, resources, budgets, and timelines.

Working closely with senior management and key stakeholders, the Head of Projects will align project outcomes with the company’s strategic goals. The role will initially involve some hands-on project management as the team is built and developed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Project Management:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive project management strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of a portfolio of projects, ensuring they meet the standards for quality, timelines, and budget
  • Establish and enforce project management methodologies, standards, and best practices across the organisation

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and manage a team of project managers and other project staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the project management team
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, mentoring, and coaching to ensure continuous improvement within the team

Resource Allocation and Management:

  • Allocate resources efficiently across projects, ensuring optimal use of personnel, budgets, and materials
  • Work closely with department heads and senior management to prioritise projects and allocate resources based on strategic importance
  • Monitor and track resource utilisation and adjust as necessary to meet project demands

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related activities, communicating project status, risks, and issues to senior management and other stakeholders
  • Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders to review project progress, address concerns, and ensure alignment with business objectives

Risk Management and Problem Resolution:

  • Identify potential risks across projects and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring project continuity and success
  • Oversee the resolution of project issues, conflicts, and obstacles that may impact project outcomes
  • Implement robust risk management practices to minimise the impact of unforeseen challenges on project delivery

Financial Management and Budgeting:

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that projects are delivered within the approved financial parameters
  • Monitor project costs and financial performance, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track project progress, quality, and success
  • Prepare and present regular project performance reports to senior management, highlighting achievements, risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to capture lessons learned and identify areas for future improvement

Continuous Improvement:

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the project management function, encouraging innovation and the adoption of best practices
  • Lead initiatives to enhance project management processes, tools, and techniques
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging practices in project management, integrating relevant advancements into the organisation’s practices

With a blend of strategic oversight and hands-on involvement, this fantastic role offers the chance to shape and develop a high-performing team and make a tangible impact on the organisation's growth and success. If you are a visionary leader with a strong track record of delivering complex projects and are ready for a challenging and rewarding role, we invite you to join us in driving TBR's future forward.

On offer is a competitive base salary with bonus, private healthcare and other benefits.
