The Opportunity Be part of a leading firm in the design of electrical, lighting, and technology systems for buildings and infrastructure. As a member of the AES design team, you’ll grow your project portfolio by designing power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communication systems for a wide range of facilities. About the Role The Senior Electrical Designer will be based in our Vancouver office and is responsible for designing electrical systems for commercial and institutional building projects. The ideal candidate has prior experience in consulting and a desire to work in a collaborative team environment. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Developing electrical designs for small and large building projects with minimal supervision Coordinating electrical design work with architectural and interior design teams Collaborating with sub-consultants and contractors Ensuring electrical designs conform with all applicable codes and standards Leading electrical designs from concept stage to building permit with minimum supervision Experienced in electrical distribution design with the ability to develop single line diagrams and service room layouts while meeting codes and requirements Familiar with utilities requirements, standards for service upgrades, new service requests Experienced in developing assessments and schematic design reports Providing mentorship to junior and intermediate designers Familiar with construction administration responsibilities and preparing SI, CCN, shop drawings review and progress claim reviews Attending site meetings and site reviews complete with producing reports Managing work stress and work well under pressure Team player with good technical skills Well organized Preferred Requirements: Electrical Designer with minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience in the engineering consulting industry in a building engineering group Familiar with building codes, electrical code, fire alarm standards, ASHRAE and LEED requirements Familiar in new development projects and tenant improvement projects Familiar with electrical design requirements for various types of sectors from residential, mixed-use, healthcare, institutional to light industrial Experience with short circuit and fault study software is a great asset Experience with Revit and AutoCAD Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Ability to communicate, coordinate, and work well with others both internally and externally Work well as part of a big or small group Benefits: Flexible Work Environment (Hybrid work option upon successful completion of probationary period) Extended Health Benefits Healthcare Spending Account Dental Coverage RRSP Matching Plan Employee and Family Assistance Program Bike Storage Facilities Tuition Reimbursement/Professional Licensing/In-House Training Equal Opportunity Statement AES is an equal opportunity employer.
