Operations Manager - Transportation Ottawa, ON Our client is a privately owned Canadian corporation that has an exceptional track record in providing customized transportation services across Ontario. This role is based out of our client’s Ottawa facility. We are seeking a dynamic Operations Manager to oversee the overall operations of the Ottawa shuttle service. The role involves training staff on policies and procedures, liaising with repair shops, maintaining customer communication, and identifying new service opportunities. A focus on improving efficiency, fostering a positive work environment, and driving company profitability is essential. Networking and business relationship development are also important components of this position. Responsibilities: Oversee the smooth and efficient operation of Ottawa's shuttle services, ensuring the well-being of buses, staff, and drivers Responsible for recruiting, screening, interviewing, and hiring qualified candidates Maintain accurate and up-to-date driver records, including files and documentation Engage in monthly communication with customers to address concerns and enhance service satisfaction Regularly assess service performance and address any relevant issues to improve operations Continuously strive to improve operational efficiency, create a positive work environment, and drive profitability for the company Administer and manage the preventative maintenance schedule for all buses, coordinating the movement of vehicles to and from repair facilities Conduct regular, scheduled audits of all buses to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards Oversee the execution and follow-up of repair action plans to ensure vehicles are in top condition Provide training and ensure staff are fully aware of all company policies and procedures Liaise with third-party repair shops and actively source new partnerships as needed Qualifications: 3-5 years of experience in a managerial role, ideally within transportation or public transit sectors Strong understanding of the setup and mechanical components of commercial vehicles Proven ability to motivate and organize teams to achieve peak efficiency in operations Capable of delegating tasks effectively and fostering staff development Strong motivational skills with a focus on team building and collaboration Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse workforce Well-organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Familiarity with shuttle routes and schedules is considered a strong asset Experience in vetting and reconciling repair estimates and invoices Well-versed in bus maintenance schedules and common technical issues Knowledge of safety equipment and related documentation Comfortable working alongside shop and maintenance staff Strong customer service skills, ensuring a positive experience for all stakeholders Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written Our client offers competitive salary packages, a comprehensive benefits package, and a dynamic work environment where you can grow and develop your skills.
