Job Description

Your Role


As a part-time Metalsmith, you’ll apply your skills to Army hardware and work on armaments, battle tanks, high-tech armoured troop carriers and weapon systems.


Your primary role will be to fabricate, repair, modify and reclaim military equipment and components.

The pay you receive in the Army Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax, and it increases as you gain seniority and experience.


On completion of your initial military and employment training, you could earn at least $220/day tax-free.


Additional amounts are paid for time spent on exercises and deployments.


Location


You will train for 3 weeks in Wagga Wagga, NSW. Following your training, you will be posted to an Army unit close to where you live.

For this role, you’ll need to be a qualified Welder 1st Class, Boilermaker Marker Off, Boilermaker Welder or Sheet Metal Worker having completed an approved apprenticeship or approved traineeship at a recognised institution as well as the full-time employment requirement for that trade. You’ll also need completion of Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics.
