Job Description

The Person: Chartered Accountant (SA). Post-Graduate qualification in Finance/General Management, an added advantage. Minimum 15 years’ experience, of which at least 10 years in a Senior Management role, pref. in a manufacturing and FMCG environment. Experience in a fast-paced, highly regulated and deadline driven environment. Job Purpose: Provide leadership and strategic direction to the company by ensuring a robust company budgeting process, financial reporting and control systems and translation of company strategy into divisional capability to preserve company assets. Accountable for customer-focused, commercially viable, consistent delivery to customers. Identify the most appropriate revenue and profit generating opportunities. Effectively manage client /partner relationships, in line with the company's overarching mandate and vision. Key Responsibilities: Report to the Managing Director: Ensure strategic finance oversight. Lead the Finance and Supply Chain functions for the company and support the MD as a Business Partner. Lead the financial year-end audit process and prepare annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS. Responsible for the Costing system and draft of monthly management accounts for publication to the Exco and key stakeholders. Lead commercial support for pricing, costing and evaluate innovation products. Oversee the management of the finance operations (debtors and creditors management, fixed assets' management, supply chain management, Capex and Opex management, cash management and payroll management) to ensure the achievement of efficiencies, legislative compliance and risk mitigation. Provide leadership and strategic direction to ensure sound financial and manufacturing accounting systems are aligned to strategy of the company and in accordance with IFRS. As an appointed Board member; advise the Managing Director, Executive Management, and the Board of Directors on the optimisation of the company’s financial performance and business opportunities. Participate as a Member of the Executive Committee and ensure financial resources are best leveraged to deliver the overall business objectives in a financially sustainable manner. Oversee day-to-day operations of the division and develop short-term and long-term plans aligned to the financial goals and objectives of the company and in collaboration with the MD. Develop a meaningful financial management strategy and develop a roadmap for the Finance department's continued improvement and value addition to the organisation. Develop, implement and reinforce strategies, programmes and systems that will give effect to the sound performance of the organisation. Prepare and submit annual company operational and capital budgets to the MD and Board of Directors for approval, manage effectively within these budgets; and report on variances, accomplishment of goals and challenges encountered. Ensure sufficient cash flow, reduced operating costs, and increased revenues. Direct the development and implementation of an appropriate governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) framework for the company as a whole and ensure strategic risks are identified and assessed, and mitigation measures developed and implemented. Ensure the management of strategic and operational risk and internal controls in the Finance department, including supply chain, procurement and payroll. Implement the supply chain management framework and lead the supply chain management function. Develop the company’s sourcing strategy, and provide oversight and strategic direction while ensuring security of supply through a diverse supplier base. Manage the development and performance of direct reports and build a high performance culture through engaged and competent people within the division.  Knowledge Required: Financial, strategic sourcing and strategic planning. Technical and regulatory accounting. Tax planning and compliance. Budgeting, payroll, and financial management. Strategy development and implementation. Transformation and change management. Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC). Programme/project leadership. IFRS and integrated reporting. Standard costing and manufacturing accounting systems.  Competencies: A strong leader.
