Job Description

We're recruiting for aOperational Support Team Consultant to join us. We're offering acompetitive base salary. You will apply Defined Benefit Pension scheme expertise to support the maintenance of scheme data and to administer and update individual member records, handling all aspects of customer claims work in an efficient, effective and empathetic manner
    What you'll be doing:
    • Providing an efficient administration and claims service to individual scheme members and intermediaries, including manual calculations for Defined Benefit Pension Schemes, to ensure that the customer is quoted and paid in line with the benefit specification and current legislation
    • Responsible for calculating individual Defined Benefits quotations and ensuring that documents/letters and statements are correct, and that L&G is protected from any additional payments or cost above those for which the Society is liable
    • Drafting and issuing clear and concise communication to both members and 3rd party intermediaries regarding Defined Benefit Pension scheme benefits to ensure L&G is acting in line with current legislation
    • Responsible for the checking of and authorising of the payment of Defined Benefits claims ensuring that the correct benefit calculations accurate, and settled
    • Acting as technical expert for the team, which could include being utilised as the Society's contact and expert on sensitive or priority schemes, acting as the focal point for queries and having responsibility for interpreting and keeping up to date with current pensions legislation and HMRC practice
    • Setting up and maintaining scheme records, investigating anomalies and taking appropriate action for Bulk Purchase Annuities Defined benefit schemes
    • Ensuring all standard operating procedures are followed for all processes and that a full audit trail exists on the activities carried out to meet regulatory and internal compliance
    Qualifications

    Who we're looking for:
    • Pension Qualification such as CII or PMI or demonstrable equivalent experience
    • Understanding of defined benefit pension schemes
    • Understanding of the way benefits are structured and administered in Defined Benefit schemes.
    • Highly customer focused and understands the need to maintain and improve relationships with both internal and external customers
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
