Job Description

SEN Teaching Assistant


Our Primary School is an outstanding School for students aged 4-11. We work closely with the other schools in our group and believe in 'thinking differently and being as creative as possible in our teaching.


We are seeking to recruit an energetic Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. You will need to be passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and committed to providing them with the best educational support possible. You will be working in close partnership with our teachers, therapists, other teaching assistants and parents.


  • Working hours: 8.00 - 16.30, Monday to Friday, term-time only (ca. 40 weeks a year)
  • Actual Salary: £85 - £100 per day
  • Contract: Long term with the possibility of permanent


Responsibilities as a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • To assist teaching staff to plan and prepare lessons and resources within the school curriculum.
  • To make and prepare resources for teaching and therapy staff.
  • To reinforce targets throughout the school day.
  • To support students both within the class and during unstructured situations.
  • To support the teaching and therapy staff to maintain detailed case notes of all children seen.
  • To produce and maintain up-to-date pupils profile and behaviour plans.
  • To follow school procedures in reporting incidents and safeguarding concerns.
  • To act as a resource and support for other staff members working with the children.
  • To participate in supervision and support as required.
  • To maintain continuous professional development.


We are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant for our Primary School who has:

  • Level 2 or 3 TA qualification or equivalent
  • Current DBS or willing to do one
  • An enthusiasm for working with a range of children with differing needs and abilities
  • Previous experience of providing pupils with high quality provision
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum
  • A keenness to be involved in all aspects of school life
  • A proven track record of good working relationships and professionalism
  • A commitment to professional development and life-long learning
