Job Description

The London Sexual Health Programme (LSHP) is seeking a Health Economist to lead the development of cross-charging systems for sexual health services across London. LSHP is a collaboration of London boroughs focused on improving sexual and reproductive health through education, prevention, and treatment.

  • Objective: Spearhead cross-charging systems across London sexual health services.
  • About LSHP: A collaboration of London boroughs working with various stakeholders to enhance sexual and reproductive health.
  • History: Since 2013, LSHP has been commissioning sexual health services, transforming the service model to improve outcomes and value.
  • Current Work: Managing contracts with NHS providers, overseeing SHL.UK (an e-service for remote sexual health services), and leading procurement and cross-charging arrangements.
  • Responsibilities: Economic modelling, oversight of remuneration and cross-charging systems, and contributing to the procurement of sexual health services.

The role:

  • Develop models to predict future costs and outcomes of clinical interventions.
  • Determine cost-effectiveness, savings, and value for money of clinic system transformation and SHL service.
  • Assess the value for money of treatments by comparing costs and health outcomes.
  • Verify economic modelling of new tariffs and currencies.
  • Forecast financial implications of changing or adding new tariffs.
  • Evaluate the economic impact of health policies, clinical guidelines, and regulations.
  • Apply appropriate analytical techniques to deliver desired outcomes.
  • Lead quality assurance of data analytics and identify anomalies.
  • Streamline data capture and support agile delivery.
  • Maintain programme initiation documents and monitor progress.
  • Provide monthly reports and proposals against implementation plans.
  • Understand stakeholder perceptions to build evidence for health technologies.
  • Ensure the validity and reliability of studies and analyses.
  • Adhere to the Information Governance Framework and ensure data safety.
  • Develop written outputs as required.
  • Lead project delivery with clear communication and high-quality results.
  • Ensure data quality in procurement documentation.
  • Promote an inclusive working environment and uphold equality.
  • Influence service commissioning to eliminate social and cultural inequalities.
  • Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in development activities, including protocol review and training.
  • Assist senior management with pipeline management and resource planning


What you'll need to succeed:

Knowledge, Training, and ExperienceEssential:

  • M.Sc. in Economics/Health Economics or equivalent.
  • Excel budget models, Visual Basic proficiency.
  • Data presentation and analysis skills.

Desirable:

  • Continuing professional development.
  • Qualitative and quantitative research experience.
  • Knowledge of STATA.
