Freelance Logistics Manager / Appointed Person
Location: Manchester
Start: Mid-September 2024
Duration: 12 months
My Client are a Tier 1 Main Contractor delivering a complex high-rise apartment scheme in Manchester City Centre. The project requires a Freelance Logistics Manager with Appointed Person qualification to join the existing team.
As a key member of the project team, you will be responsible for overseeing/coordinating all logistics and lifting operations, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials, equipment, and personnel on-site. This role is perfect for a driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is looking to make an impact on a major construction project.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Implement, and manage site logistics plans
• Optimize material handling, traffic management and storage facilities
• Coordinate deliveries, site access, and material movements minimizing disruption to site
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Ensure compliance with all lifting plans and crane operations.
• Collaborate closely with the site management team, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Act as the appointed person for lifting operations, providing technical expertise
• As AP, prepare lifting plans, and ensuring all lifting activities are conducted safely.
• Monitor and report on project progress, providing insights to improve operational efficiency
THE CANDIDATE:
• Proven experience as a Logistics Manager on large-scale construction projects
• Valid Appointed Person (AP) qualification for lifting operations (e.g. CPCS A61 or equivalent)
• CSCS / SMSTS / First Aid
• Strong knowledge of construction site logistics, traffic management, and material handling
• Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
