Job Description

Summary:

This position is ideally suited to those with experience of full-time field service work, who like a role with worldwide travel. Trips can vary between 1-5 days long, 2 weeks, and 3 weeks. Early starts/late returns are the norm. You will be out on site approx. 80% and in house 20%.


Essential Qualifications / Skills:

Electrical Engineering City & Guilds level 1&2&3 or HNC/HND and/or 17th/18th edition, or electrical degree.

Experience of 3 phase industrial environments.

Recent experience working in a field service role (could involve commissioning, service breakdowns, installations, warranty visits etc.)

Previous experience travelling for work.

Must be computer literate.

Must speak clear fluent English.

Must be free to travel worldwide with no restrictions.

Must have a current manual full driving licence with no more than 3 points on.


Beneficial Qualifications / Skills:

Knowledge of PCBs & PLCs (up-loading of programmes and interrogation of fault record for trouble shooting).

European language ability (in addition to English)


Job Description

You will be given comprehensive training in Production to gain knowledge of components, assembly (electrical/electronic and mechanical), repairs and refurbishments, product testing, analysis and fault finding skills.

You will then accompany other experienced Service Technicians on installation and service jobs on site at customer premises.

Once a sufficient level of competency has been gained you will go to site unaccompanied to carry out the full range of tasks.


Field Service Work

Installation of electro-mechanical industrial equipment predominantly on to printing presses – both as new and retrofit equipment.

Commissioning the range of Customer products, recording the required measurements.

Test the equipment to satisfy the customer’s requirements and provide operator training.

Customer/OEM/Distributor/staff training as required from time to time, both in house and on site in the UK and worldwide.

Service and repair of existing systems.

Gaining experience and building up knowledge of printing applications and the factors affecting curing.

Travel in the UK and overseas worldwide working mostly alone but with support from the in-house service team. Some product ranges require technicians to work in a team out on site.


In House Duties

When you are at Crawley you may be requested to do any of the following duties:

Assembly skills

Light mechanical & electrical/electronic assembly

Repair and refurbishment of components as required.


Test skills

Setting up the systems for test – assembling the mechanical and electrical /electronic components/assemblies.

Measuring & recording information using a variety of instruments including air pressure, temperature, voltage, current, UV sensors following the quality test checks.

Calibration of curing systems within the control specification and tolerances.

Analysis and fault-finding skills as appropriate.


Tools & Clothing

All necessary tools and safety equipment are provided.

Company uniform provided – safety shoes, overalls, trousers, polo shirts, jacket, outer coat etc.


Remuneration Package

Basic annual salary for 40 hrs per week £40,000 - £45,000

In House Hours: Mon – Fri 08:00 – 16:30.

On Site Hours: may be considerably higher/different a per the customer/job requirement.

O/T at 1.5 basic hourly rate (over 40 basic hrs per week). It is essential you are prepared to work overtime. (During the first 2-3 months of training there will be less overtime required)

Company car, fuel card (private fuel UK only provided), AA assistance, mobile telephone, and computer provided.

Out of pocket expenses reimbursed.

Pension upon joining the company.

Life assurance, after qualifying probationary period (6 months)

Private healthcare and increased pension contributions after further qualifying period (2-3 years)

33 days holiday, including UK Bank holidays.

  • After long service holiday increases further.
