Job Description

At the western entrance to Bass Strait lies an idyllic place known as King Island. An island rich in history, there is more to this 64km long by 27km wide stretch of land than first meets the eye.


Programmed Skilled Workforce is recruiting to fill a number of permanent, full-time Process Technician positions for our client's mine site at Grassy.


Our Client is open to experienced Mill Operators/Process Technicians as well as mechanically minded candidates seeking entry into the Mining Industry.


About the role:



  • Process Operators/Mill Operators


Reporting to the Shift Coordinator, you will follow a 2 week on and 1 week off roster arrangement. These positions are open to residential and FIFO candidates.


As a Process Operator you will work around crushing and grinding circuit's, flotation and gravity processing and working as part of a team to meet production goals.


Following the safe working procedures and systems in place to protect yourself and others around you.



  • Safe operation of mobile plant

  • Maintaining plant equipment in a safe and efficient working order to optimise recovery

  • Maintaining clean and safe working environment including vehicle interiors and exteriors

  • Following directions and instructions provided by supervising staff

  • Following all environmental protection procedures

  • Perform duties in the Laboratory as required.



  • Safety:

  • Perform Pre-start check.

  • Assure work area is safe for personnel and equipment to perform duties

  • Adhere to all Policies, Procedures and follow SWI's

  • Safe manual handling techniques,

  • PPE awareness and use,

  • Promote safe manual handling techniques



  • Manual Tasks may include:

  • Lifting of equipment

  • Handling of overflow spillages

  • Pre-start checks of vehicles



About the Project:


The mine hosts the highest-grade tungsten deposit of significant size in the western world. Tungsten prices have also increased significantly, with it now classified as a critical mineral by the Australian Government, as well as others around the world.


A range of accommodation is provided on the Island, with flight options from/to Wynyard, Launceston and Melbourne airports.


About you:


You are someone with a 360º safety focus who takes pride in their housekeeping practices. You're a great team-worker that's punctual, reliable and highly accountable, and able to work under minimal supervision; a confident communicator and effective problem solver who is committed to following strict, documented environmental protection measures + adhering to all company policies, procedures and SWIs.



Qualifications, Skills & Experience:



Essential



  • Open class driver licence

  • Understanding of the mining or construction working environment

  • Clean bill of health for manual tasks



Desirable



  • Experience in mineral processing working environment.

  • Operation of processing plant equipment relating to: Crushing, Grinding, Gravity concentration, Sulphides and Oxide flotation, and Tails Storage Facility

  • Understanding of PLC and SCADA systems

  • Provide First Aid HLTAID003

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Mining or Civil accreditations for plant operation
