Job Description

Are you an experienced Distribution Centre Manager with a passion for driving efficiency and team success? Join our client, a leading multi-modal transport and logistics company that has been providing independent freight services across Australia since 1974.



About the Company:


Our client specializes in rail-to-road, dry freight, refrigerated, and bulk transport, offering the most efficient and independent freight services in the country. From its early days as an East/West rail operator, the company has grown into a national enterprise, consisting of three companies with branches throughout Australia.



The Role:


As the Distribution Centre Manager based in Perth, you will be responsible for the full management of the warehouse and client account. You will lead the team to ensure the warehouse operates efficiently, safely, and profitably.



Your key responsibilities will include:



  • Lead and develop a team that is customer centric and values the importance of exceptional internal and external customer service.

  • Ensure operational processes and standards are sound to support the safe and efficient handling of all customer's freight.

  • Create & present structured weekly KPI meetings for State Manager, State Financial Controller, and State Logistics Manager.

  • Create & drive a standard and disciplined based team and culture.

  • Able to work with unions and company delegates and support the State Manager on negotiating new Enterprise Agreements.

  • Ensure the warehouse (blue/white collar) employees' performance is maintained and reviewed, continuously striving for individual and team improvement.

  • Create, review, and instil robust and sustainable processes that support our employees, drive efficiencies, and improve operating margins.

  • Provide Weekly reports, analysing the division and its performance against budget and KPIs to the State Manager & State Financial Controller.

  • Lead, Coach, mentor Managers at all levels, providing direction in all HR/IR matters

  • Implement a sustainable employee reward & recognition program throughout your teams, promoting performance, KPI's, and high achieving employees.

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.

  • Create & drive a culture committed to injury prevention, WHS & Environmental compliance



What we're looking for:



  • Proven experience in a similar role.

  • Demonstrated experience managing people at all levels.

  • Previous P & L and/or Cost Centre accountability.

  • WHS knowledge and responsibility

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current HR and IR best practice.

  • Experienced in gaining positive outcomes with unions.

  • Operational planning & project work.

  • Demonstrated Account Manager or customer responsibilities.

  • Facilities management.

  • MHE management.
