About the Opportunity


We are seeking an experienced and proactive Management Accountant to join our team as a trusted advisor to the Education Sector. This role offers the opportunity to take on more responsibility and work closely with senior stakeholders, providing comprehensive financial analysis, reporting, and management accounting support to drive informed decision-making across a diverse portfolio of contracts.


The Education Sector encompasses a range of projects, from school refurbishment programs to public-private partnerships (PPPs), with sites spread across New Zealand. You will play a key role in influencing business outcomes, ensuring operational efficiency, and supporting profitability.


Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, with a dotted line to the Education Sector Lead, this position is based in Te Rapa Park, Hamilton, NZ.

Leveraging your strong management accounting background, your key responsibilities will be to:



  • Act as a strategic partner to Education Sector, providing financial insights and guidance to support decision-making.

  • Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis, including variance analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and scenario planning.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reporting to senior management.

  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.



About You


To be successful in this role, you will have strong management accounting experience, a customer-centric focus, and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing requirements. We are seeking someone with substantial experience in a commercial environment in a business partnering finance/accounting role, ideally including experience with financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, PPP accounting, and corporate governance measures.


Additionally, you will demonstrate and possess the following:



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce or similar.

  • Hold CPA or CA membership, or nearing completion.

  • Highly developed communication and robust stakeholder engagement ability.

  • Proactive approach to relationship management and business partnering.



  • Solution oriented and collaborative style.

  • Experience and knowledge of Navision / D365 F&O highly desirable.
