About the Role

At Infrastructure NSW, we are on a mission to transform the built infrastructure landscape of our state. This includes our commitment to driving productivity uplift across the NSW infrastructure sector through digital technology and modern practices to support better government service and infrastructure outcomes enabled by reliable, secure and interoperable systems and data.

To support the digitalisation of future and existing State assets, Infrastructure NSW is currently leading the whole-of-government (WofG) Implementation Program for the NSW Roadmap for digitalising planning, design, construction and operation of built infrastructure.

We are currently seeking a highly experienced Associate Director to join the delivery team. In this pivotal position, you will provide technical expertise and strategic leadership focused on built infrastructure (not ICT Infrastructure). You will drive the development and implementation of best practice policies, technical standards, and guidelines that empower various infrastructure agencies to adopt cutting-edge digital tools.

Some of the key accountabilities for the role include:

  • Lead with Innovation: Develop forward-thinking policies and technical standards that set the benchmark for infrastructure digitalisation. Your work will be instrumental in fostering a culture of innovation across government agencies.
  • Champion Digital Engineering: Utilise your expertise in Digital Engineering and Building Information Modelling to guide the Infrastructure Digitalisation Program. Your insights will support all workstreams, ensuring that our approach is both practical and impactful.
  • Advocate for Change: Collaborate with policymakers to drive legislative changes that support infrastructure digitalisation. Your advocacy will help create an environment that nurtures innovation and efficiency.
  • Harness Data for Better Outcomes: Provide expert guidance on data governance and sharing practices to facilitate collaboration across government. You’ll ensure that our approach adheres to cybersecurity protocols while maximizing the benefits of data exchange.
  • Spotlight Emerging Trends: Identify risks and gaps in current practices, recommending innovative solutions that empower agencies to embrace digitalisation in their infrastructure projects.
  • Engage Stakeholders: Prepare compelling briefings and reports, representing our vision at forums, workshops, and conferences. Your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly will be key in engaging a diverse range of stakeholders.

About You

You should have tertiary qualifications or expertise in Digital Engineering, Building Information Modelling (BIM) or a related field. You must have proven experience in developing, managing, or working with infrastructure project data and information requirements, such as BIM. Additionally, you should have a strong background in establishing business processes and procedures in collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders. Practical experience in implementing Digital Engineering and Building Information Management Systems within large, complex organisations, including contributing to business transformation initiatives, is also essential.

This is your chance to be at the forefront of a transformative initiative that shapes the future of infrastructure in New South Wales. You will work alongside passionate professionals who share your commitment to innovation and excellence.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. For more information, please refer to the role description.
