Senior Investigation Officer, HCCC - Clerk Grade 9/10 - Creation of talent pool for temporary roles

The Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) is looking for Senior Investigators to investigate the most serious complaints about health practitioners and health organisations. You will play a central part in ensuring that members of the NSW public are kept safe from the practitioners and organisations who they entrust their health and safety. to.

We are looking to create a talent pool for potential upcoming temporary vacancies for a period of up to 6 months with the opportunity for extension. Through this recruitment we are establishing a dynamic talent pool for the Senior Investigation Officer role to fill vacancies for the future. Applications are continuously reviewed. About the role

Senior Investigation Officers are responsible for the carriage of varied and complex investigations into health practitioners and health organisations who appear to be posing a serious risk to public health and safety.  

The role requires the effective and efficient conduct of investigations in accordance with relevant legislation and HCCC policies and procedures.

About you

· A natural problem solver with at least five (5) years experience in leading / conducting regulatory / criminal investigations.

· Experience conducting proactive investigations resulting in a range of regulatory outcomes.

· Experience monitoring and enforcing regulatory outcomes such as Interim and Permanent Prohibition Orders.

· Experience in conducting respondent / person of interest interviews, statement taking, evidence collection and analysis, and interpretation and application of legislation.

· Experience managing vulnerable witnesses, with a trauma informed focus and the ability to build and maintain rapport whilst obtaining clear, factual information.

· Experience in identifying and proactively addressing risk throughout the investigation process.

· Experience in assessing and analysing information to develop and present recommendations to senior staff.

· Experience with identifying appropriate sources of evidence and lines of enquiry and compile high level briefs of evidence.

· Driven, motivated and able to progress investigations within designated timeframes and with minimal oversight.

· Well-developed written communication skills and proficiency in report writing and critical analysis.

· A strong communicator with excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work well as a team member and communicate effectively with people from a diverse range of cultures, backgrounds and experiences.

· Ability to demonstrate empathy and sensitivity while maintaining independence and impartiality.

· Well-developed technical skills in respect of the Microsoft suite of programs and applications.
