How will you contribute?


As a Financial Auditor you will undertake audit assignments either individually or as part of a team to deliver high quality financial audits for specified clients. Financial Auditors will generally be supervised by and report to a Senior Auditor. Key duties of this role include:


  • Conducting external audit of public sector entities financial statements alone or as part of a team

  • Planning and conducting audit testing, identifying the most efficient methods of obtaining assurance required

  • Evaluating misstatements and conclude whether balances and disclosures are materially correct

  • Identifying, assessing, and documenting issues and recommend solutions

  • Establishing excellent working relationships with client staff of all levels

  • Discussing issues with client management and obtain agreement on solutions

  • Ensuring complete and accurate documentation is maintained of audit work conducted


What will you need to succeed?


We are seeking Financial Auditors (Auditor 4 & Auditor 3 levels) to undertake audit assignments as part of a team to deliver high quality financial audits.

We are seeking candidates who possess effective communication skills (both written and verbal), strong interpersonal skills and be a team player. You will have the capability and desire to progress to a leadership position within the Audit Office.

To work with the Audit Office as a Financial Auditor you must have:


  • Obtained or undertaking full membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or the Institute of Public Accountants

  • At least one to two years’ experience in external audit of financial statements

  • Sound knowledge of accounting and auditing standards

  • Experience working in an entry level supervisory role desirable

  • Australian permanent resident or citizen or New Zealand citizen.

To work with the Audit Office as a Financial Auditor 4 (A4) you must have:

  • completed a minimum of three subjects for membership of CPA Australia or the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) or five subjects for Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
  • at least two years’ experience in external audit of financial statements
  • experience working in an entry level supervisory role.


To work as a Financial Auditor 3 (A3) you must have:

  • completed a minimum of one subject of CPA Australia or the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), or two subjects of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
  • at least one year's experience in external audit of financial statements.
