About the team
The BTS Spatial Delivery Systems team plays a pivotal role in managing various delivery channels, including SIX Maps, NSW Point, Foundational Spatial Data Delivery, Incremental feed, Clip and Ship, and several other microservices. In addition, this team offers essential support to numerous departments within and external to the organisation.

Why this role is critical:

The Developer 3 role is of utmost importance, especially in the context of ongoing projects. It plays a crucial part in delivering, supporting and maintaining Foundation Spatial Data Framework (FSDF) data services. Some of the immediate priorities include assisting with the upcoming upgrade of the Spatial Collaboration Portal including all downstream data services and all relevant applications and migrating legacy on-premises FSDF data services to AWS Cloud.

The FSDF data services receive over 15 million API requests per day, delivering over 2 TB of data per month. The services provide critical data for our customers including through applications such as SIX Maps and our new Explorer product and are ingested directly into third party mapping applications. These applications receive millions of page views per year and.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist in ESRI enterprise portal upgrade process

· Publish data from Aurora database to ArcGIS Enterprise portal services (e.g.- Map service/Feature service, vector tile cache service)

· Troubleshoot issues with the Spatial Collaboration Portal and SIX Maps platform including root cause analysis for complex problems.

· Optimise and fine tune rest services and database query performance so that end consumer has seamless experience when the service is used in maps, apps or for any other purpose

· Maintain and update tile cache services

· Modernise nightly data update process within the Spatial Collaboration Portal

· Support all downstream applications that are consumed from Spatial Collaboration portal. E.g. – ETL process, rest services, web application, experience builder

· Conduct data quality control for published services in the portal

· Test software application and fix bugs

· Document process and user manuals

· Provide technical support to team members and clients

· Stay updated with latest GIS technologies and applications

· Assist with modernising processes for publishing spatial datasets to AWS Aroura postgres/postgis database

Required Skills:

· Demonstrated experience in managing services in ArcGIS Enterprise environments

· Proficient in GIS software preferably in ESRI technology (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise)

· Proficiency in Python, JavaScript and SQL. Preferably ESRI ArcPy and Esri JavaScript API.

· Proficient in Postgres and PostGIS. Preferably in AWS Aroura environment.

· Sound knowledge of spatial data and projections.

· AWS cloud skills - CloudFront, lambda, CDK, API gateway, ec2

· FME

· Bitbucket

Salary Grade 0708, with the base salary for this role starting at $106025 base plus superannuation
