  • Ongoing Full-Time role
  • Parramatta Location with hybrid working arrangements
  • Salary ranges from $106,025 to $117,363 plus employers’ contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

About the role

The Taxation Advisor plays a leading role in providing exemplary customer service and specialist advice, and engages team members in the delivery of accurate, reliable and targeted outcomes that meet customer expectations. The role is also accountable for optimising business outcomes and drives the day to day operational activities of the team in order to achieve team objectives.

The role supports the Taxation area within Shared Services Finance. The Finance function is responsible for managing all finance activities within the Shared Services function to ensure the smooth running of the Directorate. Finance activities include accrual accounting, posting general ledger journals, budgeting and funding, forecasting, financial reporting, accounts management (accounts receivable and payable), managing travel and accommodation expenses and benefits realisation.

Essential requirements of the role

  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in Administration, Finance and Accounting or a relevant discipline, and/or demonstrated successful experience in stakeholder/customer engagement in a Shared Services/Contact Centre enviornment.
  • Proven experience across a range of accounting and finance functions, with a sound knowledge of accounting principles and standards, financial data processing and reporting
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of public education.

This role is responsible for ensuring that the department complies with all relevant taxation legislation. Describe a time when quality standards were critical to the delivery of outcomes in your team. How did you communicate, monitor and maintain these standards? (maximum 300 words)

Note: the selection process will include a range of assessment techniques to assist in determining your suitability for the role. Successful candidates will be required to undertake pre-employment screening for this role which includes a National Criminal History Check.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates who have not previously worked for the department will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number. This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC’s validity (up to 5 years)
