Job Description

The Corporate Division provides corporate support to all VSBA teams and fulfills an important assurance and oversight role. They guide VSBA to achieve strategic objectives and ensure decision-making is transparent and accountable. The Project Officer role in the Standards, Training and Assurance Unit provides support for a range of corporate services to the VSBA.

About the Victorian School Building Authority

The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) is part of the Department of Education. Established in 2016, it oversees Victoria's largest school building program since the state introduced free public education in the 1870s.

The VSBA upgrades and expands existing schools and plans, designs and builds new schools to meet enrolment demand. We also support schools to maintain their buildings and grounds by offering expert advice and coordinating maintenance programs and grants.

With Victoria recently introducing two years of funded kindergarten, the VSBA is also working with the early childhood sector on a massive kindergarten construction program.

About the Division

The Corporate Division provides corporate support to all VSBA teams and fulfills an important assurance and oversight role. They guide VSBA to achieve strategic objectives and ensure decision-making is transparent and accountable.

The division also coordinates communication and consultation with local communities about their school building projects. They develop graphic design and video content, manage our social media channels, lead organisational customer service reform, distribute our e-newsletters, and organise ministerial and other events for our projects.

About the Role

The Project Officer role in the Standards, Training and Assurance Unit provides support for a range of corporate services to the VSBA, including:

  • audit and attestation - supporting the coordination of internal audits and attestation process;
  • standards and frameworks - support regular updates to this suite of materials that guide project and program delivery;
  • assurance - support monitoring the risks identified by the VSBA's assurance programs.

The role includes a high degree of stakeholder engagement with VSBA leadership teams and the broader Department. The successful candidate will be someone who can assist in the development of effective decision support tools such as reports, briefing papers, and analysis.

The key accountabilities for the Project Officer are to:

  • drafting written communication materials such as reports to support effective decision-making by VSBA Executive, the Department and Government
  • act as the central point of contact for all VSBA internal audits and attestation process, including liasing with business areas to ensure audits are managed according to agreed scope and timeframes the forward audit schedule
  • coordinate responses from teams on the progress audit actions to VSBA governance committees
  • actively build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to support capability improvements and manage information across the portfolio
  • support contract management activities for VSBA's assurance services
  • supporting business change and continuous improvements by demonstrating proficiency with VSBA core systems, including AIMS, IPM and SAIL as required.&
