Job Description

PROGRAMMED, in partnership with Yara Pilbara, is now recruiting applicants to undertake an Electrical Instrumentation Apprenticeship.

Located on the beautiful Burrup Peninsular, Yara Pilbara is home to one of the world's largest ammonia production facilities which produces fertiliser to help feed the world. Along with the fertiliser plant is the Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) Plant which produces essential products for the Australian mining industry.

Yara Pilbara is also at the forefront of efforts in Western Australia to develop a pioneering renewable hydrogen hub in the Pilbara.

This apprenticeship is a four-year program, where you will work towards achieving the nationally recognised Certificate III in Industrial Electrician, and the Certificate IV in Instrumentation.

This apprenticeship is designed to provide a comprehensive practical and theoretical base that enables the development of electrical instrumentation skills to assist in maintaining and enhancing the availability and integrity of electrical equipment and control systems. High priority will also be given to developing safety awareness and safe working practices. Your training will involve both on-the-job and classroom-based learning at the local TAFE.

To be successful, you will have:



  • Completion of Secondary Schooling to a Year 12 level (or equivalent), or completion of relevant pre-vocational qualifications.

  • A current C class driver's licence.

  • Technical and problem solving skills.

  • A willingness to work as part of a team and be motivated to pursue a career in the Instrumentation trade area.

  • The ability to pass a pre-employment medical, colour-blind test and regular drug & alcohol screening tests.

  • The ability to obtain a Dangerous Goods Security Card & Maritime Security Identification Card

  • You must also be available to undertake a numeric, literacy, abstract and mechanical reasoning aptitude test
