Job Description

Here at the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) we have an opportunity to join the Legal, Policy and Compliance Division as a Special Counsel.

The Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) is an independent statutory authority which regulates Victoria's gambling industry. Our opportunity

The Special Counsel works across the four Teams in the LP Compliance Divsion and provides specialist legal advice on a wide range of gambling and general business matters.

Key accountabilities

  • Provide authoritative and accurate legal advice and written briefings to the Commission, Directors and staff on gambling matters relating to the legislative, regulatory and policy framework for gambling regulation in Victoria, as well as a number of broader areas of law, including administrative law, contract and commercial law, FOI and privacy law, and general corporate governance issues

Who we are looking for

To be successful in this position you will have:

  • A thorough knowledge of Government processes and conventions, Government regulatory environments, administrative, gambling law and legislative policy including a sound knowledge of public sector governance; gambling legislation; disciplinary proceedings; administrative tribunals and legislation and common law impacting on the role of a government lawyer.
