Elsternwick Primary School (EPS) prioritises a safe, supportive and inclusive environment fostering academic excellence, community engagement, and student wellbeing. Anchored by our vision of high performance, EPS, situated in Brighton, Melbourne, has served a diverse community since 1888. With 428 students across 19 classes, our values of Respect, Responsibility, Personal Excellence, and Curiosity underpin our school culture. Our 2022-2025 Strategic Plan includes a focus on: every student achieving continuous learning growth; empowering students to be active agents in their learning; and strengthening the engagement and wellbeing of all students.

Our workforce composition included a Principal and Assistant Principal, a dedicated staff of 26 teachers, 8 Educational Support Staff, and 4 Literacy/Numeracy Tutors. We focus on the needs of our International Students, maintaining a Student Family Occupation Education (SFOE) index of 0.0734 in 2023. Our Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) data identified 32% of students requiring varying levels of adjustment, with small percentages funded through the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) and the new Disability Inclusion Profile (DIP).

Selection Criteria

SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. Demonstrated experience in responding to student learning needs.

SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.

SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning. Demonstrated experience in using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.

SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement.

SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.
