The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Strategic Assets Manager, Facility and Assets to provide a critical role within Corrections Victoria.

About the Business Unit

About the Role

The Strategic Asset Manager (SAM) oversees the comprehensive management and strategic development of $1.34 billion in fixed assets across Barwon Prison, Karreenga Annexe, and the Western Plains Correctional Centre. This role ensures the optimal operation, maintenance, and future growth of these critical correctional facilities, aligning with the Government's and Corrections Victoria's long-term goals.

The SAM prepares and implements procedures to achieve and maintain Asset Management Accountability Framework (AMAF) maturity, ensuring full compliance with standards. This includes developing robust funding business cases, providing data-driven insights to executive leadership, and securing necessary funding for asset-related initiatives.

Some of your duties will include:

Strategic Asset Management

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine comprehensive asset management strategies that align with the Government's and Corrections Victoria's long-term goals and objectives.
  • Conduct in-depth assessments of the asset portfolio to optimise resource utilisation, reduce operational costs, and enhance asset longevity.

AMAF Compliance and Maturity Development

  • Prepare and implement procedures and processes to achieve and maintain Asset Management Accountability Framework (AMAF) maturity.
  • Ensure full compliance with AMAF standards, developing strategies to meet mandatory asset management objectives and regulatory requirements.

Operational Maintenance and Asset Needs Assessment

  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Facility and Assets, to assess operational maintenance needs and integrate them into asset management plans, ensuring timely identificatio
