Job Description

The Principal Adviser has a lead role driving strategic business activities and priority projects to support the Strategic Communications Executive Team. The role is responsible for strategic advice to the Department's Executive Director, Strategic Communications and the corporate communications function. The role extends to strategic planning for the division, change management, planning for capability building, identifying and implementing business improvements, implementing agreed corporate reforms, and working with the Office of the Deputy Secretary in overseeing performance monitoring and reporting for the division.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Minimum ten years' experience spanning communications, media and marketing.
  • Contemporary knowledge of strategic communications and media channels, processes and planning.
  • A relevant tertiary degree or industry recognised qualification in communications or public relations (or similar) would be well regarded.
  • Sound knowledge of and experience working in government is essential.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
