Job Description

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Guildford

Salary: Up to £75,000


In this role you will be responsible for managing the financial performance of multiple residential construction projects. This role involves overseeing the budgeting, procurement, and contract management processes, ensuring that projects are delivered within budget and aligned with company standards. You will collaborate closely with the project management team, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining quality across all phases of construction.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Budget Oversight: Take full control of project budgets, ensuring accurate financial planning and monitoring throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Procurement Leadership: Manage the end-to-end procurement process, working with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure the best value for the business.
  • Progress Valuations & Payments: Ensure interim valuations are prepared and submitted on time while keeping a close eye on project cash flow and payment schedules.
  • Contract Management: Administer all contracts, addressing variations and resolving disputes to maintain smooth project execution.
  • Financial Tracking: Create detailed cost reports and forecasts, providing key insights to senior management and project teams on project performance.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify financial risks early in the project and develop mitigation strategies to safeguard the project's profitability.
  • Mentoring & Support: Work closely with junior surveyors, offering guidance and ensuring a consistent approach to cost management across projects.


Requirements:

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the residential construction sector, with a focus on new build housing or apartments.
  • A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field, with membership in a professional body such as RICS being an advantage.
  • Proficiency in construction contracts such as JCT and NEC, and familiarity with cost management software.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships with key stakeholders.
  • A strong eye for detail, with the ability to provide accurate financial insights and tackle challenges as they arise.
