Job Title:Family Support Worker

Hours:Full-Time (40 hours per week) &Part-Time roles available (23 hours & 34.5 hours per week)

Salary:£12.04 - £12.50 per hour

Shifts:A combination of dayshifts, nightshifts and weekends

Days: 7am-7.30pm and Nights: 7pm-7.30am

An ideal candidate will be a support worker with the required qualification in Health & Social care and at least one years experience of working with vulnerable adults and/or children in the UK.

Critical requirements:

  • Candidates must be over 18 years of age
  • Candidates must beeligible to work in the UK
  • Candidates do not require sponsorship
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 1 years experience of working with vulnerable adults and/or children in the UK

Ty Seren is a Residential Family Centre based in Bridgend, South Wales, we support up to 11 families at any one time, where there are concerns in respect of a parents ability to care for their child. Placements are typically for 14 weeks and include a programme of teaching and assessment.

Job Description:

Our Family Support worker roles involves supporting the parents who reside in our Service to improve their self-esteem, confidence, skills and behaviours whilst they are undergoing their parenting assessment, therefore an essential part of the role is to ensure the baby is safeguarded at all times.

Core responsibilities/tasks:

To promote the Services mission, objectives, vision and values, both internally and externally and comply with all policies, procedures, guidance , code of professional practice, contractual requirements and relevant legislation.

  • To share relevant information as needed, listen to, follow directions and ensure all allocated duties are completed as requested. In cases where this is not possible, outstanding tasks should be handed over to the Shift Coordinator with a clear rationale of why they have not been achieved.
  • Support each family within the Service, as directed by the Shift Coordinator, 2nd Senior and/or Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), in line with their assessed needs.
  • Support parents to meet their childrens developing needs, considering all aspects to parenting and independent living skills.
  • Accompany families in the Service and in the community when required.
  • Build positive working relationships with family members by adopting a calm, caring yet assertive approach during interactions.
  • Help ensure the voices, views and choices of families are sought and represented, including raising any concerns or complaints with Management.
  • Keep accurate, complete and timely records are kept of family observations and interactions.
  • Assesses families during targeted formal assessment sessions, supported by the MDT.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns when they arise in line with national, local and service specific safeguarding procedures for children and adults at risk.
  • Whilst uncommon, you may be asked to attend and give evidence at Family Court when required. You will be fully supported throughout this process.
  • Undertake any other tasks as delegated by the Shift Coordinator or 2nd Senior.
  • To assist with cleaning and infection control duties within the Service.

Essential person specification and core requirements:

  • Ability to work flexibly, including days, nights and weekends
  • Willing or already working towards QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or willing to work towards City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) & (Adults).
  • Willing to register with Social Care Wales and to achieve All Wales Induction Framework (AWIF) during probationary period.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the issues regarding confidentiality and the disclosure of personal information.
  • Demonstrable high standard of numeric and literacy skills, ensuring accurate recording of family observations.

Desirable core requirements:

  • Effective and accurate administration skills and IT proficiency with working experience Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate through medium of Welsh.
  • Ability to drive.
