UrbanChain is building a team of passionate individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact through innovative technological solutions. Reporting directly to the CRO and acting as a key Business Partner to the commercial teams, this is a portfolio-wide position which aims to implement and develop the requisite internal Legal capability to enable business growth. The role will be responsible for setting legal strategy, building legal competencies, expanding legal knowledge and mindsets across the commercial teams and the provision of day-to-day legal advice, with the ability to leverage external counsel where necessary.

Commercial / Operational Responsibilities: The role is to be the prime focal point for all legal matters arising from the commercial portfolio from transaction structuring and negotiation to contract drafting and finalisation through to disputes and potential court representation.

Scope of role will include:

• Responsible for all day-to-day legal work arising from commercial activities of UC’s portfolio companies
• Support and lead on drafting, reviewing and advising on generation and customer supply agreements
• Support and lead on drafting, review and advising on business development and origination transactions
• Advise on tenders, auctions, other commercial agreements as they arise
• Advise on other agreements including NDAs, pre-bid agreements, licensing requirements etc
• Support on customer collections and resolutions including customer engagement though to supply termination
• Implement a central contract management database system
• Produce and develop industry standard in-house templates, standard T&Cs, precedents etc and build out know how within the commercial team
• Support and provision of advice for contractual disputes/non-performance/challenges including representing UC at pre-court and at-court proceedings
• Development of a legal strategy and requisite competency build out
