Senior Radiographer – York Hospital – Up to £38,000.00 per annum, dependent on experience

The opportunity


An opportunity has arisen for an individual wanting to further their career and take on more responsibilities including training of junior staff.

As our Senior Radiographer you will:

  • Undertake specialist examinations within scope of practice (i.e. Dexa scanning, mammography, and MRI).


Plus, there are further leadership and governance requirements of this role:

  • To provide clinical leadership within a specialist field in Diagnostic Imaging, including some day-to-day supervision of staff within the department, including work scheduling/rotas, Induction, development and training, and input into recruitment and performance review.
  • To co-ordinate and participate in audits and the QA programme.
  • To review policies, procedures and protocols and make recommendations regarding their content and application within area of responsibility.


And some health and safety requirements:

  • To monitor and maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment.
  • Participate in the Radiation Protection Supervision for the location, to assist in the monitoring, review, development, and maintenance of systems of work that ensure radiation exposure is restricted.
  • To regularly monitor radiation safety and take appropriate action when any issues/problems are identified, in accordance with statutory and organisational policies and procedures.


The person


To succeed as a Senior Radiographer, you will need:

  • A caring nature – to see each patient as an individual and carry out this role with understanding and empathy.
  • Post registration experience relevant to the role.
  • High levels of technical knowledge and the ability to work quickly and accurately, with a great eye for detail.
  • A postgraduate qualification in an area of specialization.
  • A BSC degree in diagnostic radiography or equivalent to meet the registration requirements of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Excellent communication and team working abilities.
  • To be highly organised and works well under pressure.
  • To be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and lead by example.



Salary - Up to £38,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Location – York Hospital

Contract type – Permanent, full-time

Weekly hours – 37.5
