Job Description

Clearfield Recruitment have partnered with a well-established construction company based in Essex, specializing in high-quality commercial and residential projects across the region.
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Pre-Construction Manager to join the team. You will play a key role in the early stages of projects, ensuring that all pre-construction activities are executed effectively, and providing technical, financial, and logistical leadership. You will work closely with the project management, estimating, and design teams to develop robust strategies that meet client expectations and budgetary requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage all pre-construction activities from project inception through to start on-site, ensuring smooth transition to the delivery team.
* Collaborate with the design team to review drawings, specifications, and design proposals for feasibility, compliance, and value engineering.
* Prepare accurate pre-construction programmes and project schedules.
* Oversee cost estimating and budgeting processes, ensuring that all proposals are competitively priced and aligned with client expectations.
* Engage with subcontractors and suppliers, developing scope packages and conducting pre-tender negotiations.
* Attend client meetings and liaise with stakeholders to ensure clarity of project requirements and objectives.
* Ensure all pre-construction processes are compliant with safety, legal, and environmental regulations.
* Support business development efforts by contributing to bid submissions and presentations.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Proven experience as a Pre-Construction Manager, or in a similar role within the construction industry.
* Strong knowledge of construction processes, design management, and cost control.
* Excellent understanding of tendering procedures, procurement, and contract management.
* Experience in managing multiple projects at the pre-construction stage.
* Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
* Commercially astute with experience in budget development and financial forecasting.
* Familiarity with relevant health and safety regulations.
* Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office suite.
