About this client: Andy, 34, is an intelligent, good-humored, independent, family man. He lives at home with his wife and two young children and has a successful career in the financial sector. Andy works hybrid; a mixture of working from home and in the office in Cannon Street. Andy has cerebral palsy that affects his mobility and causes tremors, he uses a Power wheelchair. Andy requires all assistance with personal care, feeding and administering medication. He is successful in his work and requires a Personal Assistant to act as his hands whilst working at the computer, at meals times, and with personal care.
Overview of role: Andy requires two SEN Support Worker’s to assist him whilst working, both in his office in Cannon Street and at his North London home office. (The family will be moving to Muswell Hill in the new Year). One Support Worker will work 3 days and the other 2 days. This role will involve supporting Andy in his day-to-day job; he cannot fulfil his work duties without the support of a Personal Assistant, so reliability and punctuality are essential. You need to be familiar with Microsoft Office, have strong typing skills and be confident in scribing/ taking notes. You need to be comfortable learning how to use various specialist finance software under the guidance of Andy. Because of Andy’s disability, you will also perform personal care duties such as toileting, feeding and any other tasks he may need assistance with. Light manual handling duties involve assistance with transfers, but no lifting or hoisting. There are two contracts available, either for 30 hours or 20 hours a week. Some flexibility will be required to cover each other’s annual leave time.
Who this job would suit: This is a fantastic position for a focused and attentive candidate who is comfortable working in both an office and home environment, providing 1:1 support. You need to have strong communication skills and a high level of written and spoken English. You’ll have the ability to follow instructions, be comfortable with personal care, and being respectful of the client’s independence is essential! You should also be comfortable working in a corporate setting and have an awareness that you are representing both Andy and yourself.
What’s great about this job: This is a great opportunity to assist a disabled man 1:1 in a fast-paced work environment, whilst also supporting his personal care needs. This is a flexible but stable part-time role, working in a friendly environment, a competitive salary with a family well known to Snap Care.
