Job Description
A leading and well-established main contractor in the construction industry is seeking a skilled and experienced Design Manager/Senior Design Manager to join their team. This company is renowned for delivering high-quality projects across sectors such as education, healthcare, commercial and residential up to £50m. As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the design process on multiple construction projects, ensuring that designs meet both client expectations and contractual requirements. You will play a crucial role in managing design consultants, coordinating with internal project teams, and delivering high-quality, buildable design solutions on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.
Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure effective communication and delivery of design objectives.
Manage the coordination of design consultants and ensure the integration of design information into the construction process.
Ensure design compliance with contractual obligations, building regulations, and industry standards.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure that design solutions are buildable, cost-effective, and align with the construction programme.
Identify and manage design risks, ensuring timely resolution of any design-related issues.
Prepare and review design documentation, ensuring timely submission and approval processes.
Support the tendering process by providing technical design input during pre-construction stages.
Maintain a strong focus on health and safety, sustainability, and innovative design practices.What We're Looking For:
Proven experience in design management within the construction industry, ideally across a variety of sectors (healthcare, education, commercial, or residential).
Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and regulatory requirements.
Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to guide and influence design consultants and project teams.
Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and knowledge of BIM processes is a plus.
A proactive problem-solver with attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
